Simon was born in Hobart, Tasmania in 1976.
At an early age he formed an interest in music, recording and electronics, due to his father Johnny being a guitarist and electronics engineer. At age 10, he would spend his time making layered recordings with two cassette decks, playing guitar and disassembling his mother’s radios.
At age sixteen he had completed AMEB classical guitar grade six. He and some friends formed the band Greedy Goblin and started playing gigs in Hobart’s clubs with a residency at Round Midnight lasting many years. All the while Simon was cutting his teeth with recording duties for the band.
He went on to start the band Grassroots in 1995 and recorded the album Cheery Tree Hill, whilst recording Hobart bands and starting to mix live gigs. His band Guilty As Charged was formed, who continue to play and record to this day.
In 1999, Simon relocated to Melbourne to broaden his music and audio career, initially working as an electronics technician. Soon he was playing gigs with various bands including The Nudgels and Flash Fried, whilst mixing gigs at venues such as The Cornish Arms, Espy and The Evelyn. All the while he was writing and recording his own music. By 2005 Simon had established himself in Melbourne as a sought after guitarist and recording engineer. The same year, he joined legendary dub reggae band The Red Eyes on guitar, embarking on countless tours around Australia, playing venues and festivals such as Woodford, Peats Ridge and Pyramid Rock.

Simon is now an in demand engineer and has worked live and in the studio with bands such as Hiatus Kaiyote, Human Face, The Melodics, Husky and Jess Paige (see the live sound or discography pages), while recording and gigging his own music as a singer / songwriter, and with the band The Killdeers.
